Disaster Recovery

What is Disaster Recovery?

More specific than Business continuity planning but forms part of the BCP plan. Looks at recovery of specific business applications e.g. what happens if our server dies? We build Disaster Recovery around RPOs (Recovery Point Objectives) – the point in time from which you will recover your data, i.e. how much data can you afford to lose? And RTO (Recovery Time Objective) – how soon does a service or application have to be up and running again.

Why do I need a Disaster Recovery process?

Having a Disaster Recovery plan minimizes your loss of profit should your business experience an event that wipes out important data or parts of your IT infrastructure.
